Tiger Shark is a Year 6 SATs practice app covering maths (arithmetic and reasoning), English grammar & punctuation, spelling, reading, and times tables — with games, rewards, and a progress page that shows how practice is going. All questions are original and written for the national curriculum.

No. Once the app is on your device it works completely offline — on the bus, on holiday, anywhere. There are no accounts and nothing to sign in to.

The quizzes are designed for landscape so that questions, working space, and answer keys all fit on screen at once without scrolling. Turn the device sideways and the app carries on.

Yes. Tap the name chip at the top of the home screen to add or switch players. Each player keeps their own progress, fish, and streaks.

The spelling test speaks each word aloud, so sound must be on:

• Turn the media volume up using the volume buttons
• Make sure silent / do-not-disturb mode is off
• Unplug headphones if they aren't being worn
• Use the Test my sound button on the spelling start screen to check

There's also a Can't hear? button during the test with the same checks.

Yes — tap the speaker button on the home screen to switch effects off or on. The spelling test still speaks its words, because it can't work silently.

Fish are earned for correct answers across the whole app. They're a reward and a running tally of effort — the more practice, the bigger the shoal.

It estimates a SATs-style scaled score from recent practice and shows each topic as Practising, Achieving, or Mastered, so you can see exactly where to spend revision time. Estimates are based on practice in the app — they're a guide, not a prediction.

The prediction needs enough evidence to be fair. A score appears once your child has answered enough questions across a wide enough range of topics — a handful of answers in one corner of maths isn't enough to say anything meaningful. Keep practising and the score will appear on the Progress page, then sharpen as more questions are answered.

Treat it as a guide, not a promise. Our questions are written from national curriculum requirements and the style of previous SATs papers, and the prediction reflects how your child performs on them. But the SATs change every year — new questions, shifting difficulty — so no app can know exactly what the next paper holds. The most useful signal is the trend: if the score is climbing, the practice is working.

Progress lives only on your device. To start fresh, clear the app's stored data in your device settings (or uninstall and reinstall). This removes all players and cannot be undone.
